News: New Focus and Scope of Intangible Capital

Focus and Scope

The journal focuses on the pivotal role of intangible resources as engines of value creation and transformation across organizations, public services, and society. It welcomes theoretical, empirical, and methodological contributions that deepen understanding of how knowledge, innovation, research and development (R&D), intellectual and relational capital, learning processes, and strategic capabilities drive organizational performance, competitiveness, and societal impact.

We are especially interested in research addressing the creation, transmission, and diffusion of knowledge; the management, valuation, and governance of intangible assets; and the design of strategies and policies that foster innovation ecosystems. Particular attention is given to studies exploring the governance of public services and institutions—such as universities, healthcare systems, and local administrations—examining how they leverage intangible resources to improve service delivery, accountability, and citizen engagement.

The journal also welcomes contributions that investigate the strategic alignment between intangible resources, digital transformation, and innovation-led growth, as well as their implications for science, technology, and innovation policy. By promoting interdisciplinary dialogue across management, strategy, economics, innovation studies, public administration, and information systems, the journal aims to advance scholarly insight and practical guidance for navigating the challenges of a knowledge-driven and service-oriented economy.

Intangible Capital publishes scholarly articles that either challenge existing theories or contribute to the development of new theoretical frameworks. Submissions may employ confirmatory (quantitative) or explanatory (mainly qualitative) research methodologies. The journal also welcomes theoretical essays that advance or expand existing conceptual approaches. All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process, in line with the standards of high-quality academic journals.

The journal publishes three regular issues per year and follows an open access policy, ensuring that all articles are freely available to the public. Online publication helps reduce costs and accelerate the review and editorial process.

Intangible Capital strongly supports open access publishing as a means to promote the advancement of scientific knowledge by making research results accessible to everyone.

Articles are published in English (mandatory) and optionally in Spanish and Catalan.
