The article tries to contribute to the literature on the absorptive capacity. More precisely, some limitations that have been found in the existing literature on the absorptive capacity, and some considerations for future research on the construct are introduced. The lack of studies on the diversity in the external knowledge, and the lack of a consistent and accumulative literature on the topic emphasize among the main limitations in the study of the absorptive capacity.
