Proposal of competences for a bachelor degree in management assistant in the context of the new curriculum in the European higher education area (EHEA)

Abstract


Purpose: The aim of this study is to define the profile of the Management Assistant in organizations and from that profile establish the competences of a degree in Management Assistance under the new European Higher Education Area.

Design/methodology: The first phase involved the collection of information from diverse sources (reports of associations, firms, international universities curricula, white books,…). For the analysis of such information is used qualitative methodology, specifically the decision-making based on expert opinion obtained through group techniques.

Findings: The study provides relevant evidences of the Management Assistant profile and defines the competences of a degree in Management Assistance.

Research limitations/implications: The study is biased toward the point of view of academics.

Practical implications: The data provided by the study may be useful for other Spanish universities interested in this profile and may serve as a basis for further studies to check profiles of support staff in organizations.

Originality/value: The study helps to define the profile and the competences of the Management Assistant in the organizations.
